Junior Beach Development I am currently the Junior Beach Development officer for the Beach Commission in England. I would like anyone who has an interest in Junior beach Development to contact me with ideas for coaching, tournaments, regional set up and how to spend any budget I may be able to acquire for Junior Development. I would like to make contact with people in similar positions in the UK and would like to hear from other parts of Europe as well.
I would also love to hear from anyone who wants to volunteer to do any of the above !!! |

Spring 07 volleyball trip My name is Loren Finn, assistant women's volleyball coach at the University of Wisconsin--Platteville (USA, DIII program). We possibly have the opportunity to go on a Spring 2007 trip with our volleyball team to Ireland during the last weeks in May. I am trying to research possibilities of playing a few matches with teams there in Ireland during two of our days of sightseeing. I am unfamilar with your programs there and do not know if you have programs in process during that time in May to accommodate a few matches with us. If you could help me with this information or direct me to information that would help me plan our possible trip, I would greatly appreciate it. My email is finnl@uwplatt.edu Thank you for your time. Beach Info Just to let you all know that I am looking for info on beach volleyball to add to the site, www.beachvolleyballinc.com It could be anything relating to the beach game, I want to list all the beaches/beach courts that are available for use to players from anywhere in the world, so if a visiting Brazillian wants to play and he is in Woking he can find the nearest court/players that play beach near to him. Also if you have a photo then send a web version too. So if you have a court near you or you are a group of people who in the summer regularly set nets up at your local beach then please let me know Any way thanks for taking the time to read this email and hope you can give me some info to input into the site. All the best Denise Austin austin@seabirdsbandb.freeserve.co.uk |

If you are a player without a team and would like to take part in the event, please contact me for availability in the "All Stars" team. Not everyone has access to a women's team for the event and hence the "All Stars" team is formed each year. The standard of the team is quite good and the team usually finishes within the top four places, see the web site for more info. To book your place in the event, please contact: Dave.Reece@volleyballnewsletter.com |

| 2008 china gearing up for winning teams China's national women's volleyball team has set up the World Championship crown as its New Year's resolution. Women's volleyball has entered a multi-power era as the number of title contenders has risen from three to six and now eight teams. China will face Dominique, Russia, Germany and Azerbaijan in Group B at the world championships. It won't be easy for China to win in the group stage, let alone in the finals. However, a medal, even the title, is not out of reach, according to the official. For the men's team, the Asian Games final should be a realistic target. The newly reshuffled men's team, lead by new head coach Zhou Jian'an, will play the world championships and Asian Games this year. China will be happy if the team can finish in the first 12, since the world championships comprise the world's top teams. But when it comes to the regional tournament, the Asian Games, the men's team is required to reach the final. The sports authorities have also attached great importance to beach volleyball. China, as the host nation of the 2008 Olympic Games, has automatically secured a berth in the men's and women's events respectively. But China is eyeing to have one more pair in each of the events. To reach that goal, three more coaches have been added to the coaching team and players have regrouped to get the best combination. The national team will travel to the United States to visit a one-and-half-month training camp to learn from the world's best. http://en.chinabroadcast.cn/301/2006/02/07/165@47979.htm |

CEV 2005 Player Awards Alberto Cisolla from Italy and Polish Dorota Swieniewicz have been elected the best European Volleyball players from 2005. In Beach Volleyball, Spanish Pablo Herrera reclaimed the award 'King of the Beach', whilst Greek Vassiliki Karadassiou deserved to be the 'Queen of the Beach' 2005. Alberto Cisolla and Dorota Swieniewicz stood out during the Indesit European Championships 2005, both claiming the 'Most Valuable Player' award. Whilst 28-year-old Italian Cisolla helped his team to become European Champion for the sixth time in history, Swieniewicz (33 years old) and Poland won the European Championship title for the second consecutive time. Spain's Pablo Herrera seized the 'King of the Beach 2005' title once again after him and his former partner Javier Bosma were celebrated as best Beach Volleyball duo in 2004. In 2005, the 23-year-old won the European Championship title in Moscow (RUS) together with Raul Mesa Lite in Moscow (RUS). Greek Vassiliki Karadassiou experienced an outstanding year 2005 at the side of Vassiliki Arvanity. Finishing second in Valencia (ESP), the Greek duo won in Lucerne (SUI) before claiming the European Championship title in Moscow, taking over top spot in the CEV Ranking. The European stars will receive their award during the European Volleyball Gala in the Austrian capital of Vienna on 23rd June 2006 on the occasion of the drawing of lots for the Indesit European Champions' League 2006/07.
