Watch Volleyball Online.

With the growth of home broadband services, showing volleyball matches online is now possible. The online Volleyball Video Channel is the area of our web site, where people can share volleyball videos.

If you have a match video or just match highlights, please don't leave it sat on the shelve collecting dust, why not share it, please contact Dave.Reece@volleyballnewsletter.com for details on how to show your video, we can accept matches on DVD, VHS and mini DV tape.

Volleyball Video Channel

Check out the current matches, now being shown on the volleyball video Channel

Regular visitors to the web site, will already be aware of the video service, so far over 130 people have watched the match. Before I made it public, I asked a number of people to test the service, some of their comments are listed below;

  • I think it is a great idea.
  • We dont have the correct software to view this (I did try though).
  • Really enjoyed the video, I think the ref got it wrong, the ball did touch the ariel. I would watch volleyball in almost any format, I think the quality is great.
  • It is watchable, and I would watch a whole match on it.
  • watched it, might not manage a whole hr but then have had a few glasses of red wine tonight, I couldn't always work out which side won the point until the side cheered...
  • Thanks for the on-line video channel and I can download the video and it took about 5 or 6 minutes to load up to my PC. Once loaded, I then create a play list to link to the media and it works fine... Job well done!

Technical Details

To watch the above online video, you will need a broadband service of 1 Mbps or greater, Windows Media Player or a similar program.

  • All videos are in the WMV format for online video streaming at 1 Mbps.
  • The screen image will be approximately 18 cm x 15 cm.
  • The file size is about 140 MB per set.
  • Not sure of your set up, then try our 1 minute Video Sample before proceeding.
  • Each set has it's own file, so you don't have to watch the whole match all in one sitting.
  • Some media players will buffer 10% of the file (set) before starting, hence their may be a long pause at the beginning of each set.
  • During busy times, the download may become jittery, just pause the media player for a short while (to let the player download a bit more of the file) before continuing with the match.

Norfolk Website.

Over here in Norfolk we have eventually created a Website to give info on Volleyball in the county. The Web Address is www.norfolkvolleyball.org . Please have a look at the site. Currently the site mainly gives information on the Local Leagues in the county, but we are hoping to expand to include the regional and National League tournaments.

The website gives information on match nights, fixtures, clubs in the county, information on training, a whole lot of latest news and an expanding links page.

Thanks Nigel Sinclair nigel@norfolkvolleyball.org

Looking to hire some volleyball equipment.

I was wandering if anyone could help me, I am looking to hire some volleyball equipment (net and balls) to use on Bournemouth beach on Sunday the 27th of August, 2006.

It is for myself and my family for use on the beach and I am more than willing to leave a deposit for the equipment, as I know that it will be more than safe.

I am desperate to get hold of some but am really struggling at the moment. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thankyou for your time!

Volleyball Club Required

Im not sure if you’re the right person to contact but my name is Andrew Leonov and I am an aussie living in London and looking to join up with a volleyball club.

I live in Shepherds Bush and wanted to join up with a local club close to home. Do you know what club would be the closest to where I live and how I could contact them?

Many thanks,
Andrew Leonov Andrew.Leonov@travel2.com

Major new Beach Sponsorship Deal.

The Sun newspaper is sponsoring the British Beach Volleyball Championships in Brighton at the weekend. You can see their online report at:

European University Championships

The 6th European University Championships were held in Eindhoven at the start of July. UK had three teams involved London men and women, and Sheffield Hallam men.

Sixteen women's teams and twenty men's entered the European University Championships, which are a high level event with many senior and junior international players on show playing for their home universities.

Women's Final

The British teams were full of experienced NVL Division 1 players - like Albrecht Glitz and Nik Ruh (Docklands), Spyros Masouros (Polonia), Tom Ward, Ben Wilkinson, Efe Eurero, Sam Bussey (all England senior internationals at Hallam), Kathleen Noreisch (Polonia Ladies) - but turned out to be no match for the height, power and experience of some of the opposition!

The draw was a little unkind, to London men in particular, as it pitched them in with Surgut State (Russia), Gazi (Turkey) and Latvia. Hallam drew Graz (Austria), Ljubliana (Slovenia) and Rennes (France). London women drew Graz (Austria) and Munchen (Germany) when a Turkish team failed to appear.

Men's Final

London men started well, taking the first set against a tall, powerful but lethargic Surgut, but were unable to sustain it and went down 1-3.
