Tonbridge Volleyball Club Seek Coach & Players for 2009/10 Season

Looking for a Coach and Players, Tonbridge Volleyball Club women’s team has a long history of success at the National League level. Over the past 7 years, the Angels have been National Shield champions and finalists, as well as being promoted twice in consecutive seasons. The Angels have set a goal of trying to improve on those results in the upcoming season.

We are currently looking for a coach and players to play for Tonbridge for the 2009-2010 season. Tonbridge has an excellent history of developing players, with several of our players being developed from local league sides into the national league in recent seasons. Although experienced players would be ideal, we are also interested in people who are still developing as a player. Tonbridge Volleyball is a competitive but friendly club that is made up of people who love the game of volleyball and want to develop to the best of their ability. We train on Tuesday evenings and play our matches on Sundays.

TVC is situated in Tonbridge just 20 minutes from M25 J5 and next to a mainline station, for trains direct from London Bridge. Following successful seasons in Division 3 we are looking for players to join our exciting women's teams in NL Division 3 East.

If you are interested, please contact Anneke Loode at egphysioclinic@btinternet.com we look forward to hearing from you!

Volleyball Wales

From: http://volleyballwales.org

Volleyball Wales is the newly recognised National Governing Body for Volleyball in Wales. Due to the new nature of the Association and the subsequent demands placed upon it, Volleyball Wales has maintained links with Volleyball England by being recognised as a Region, enabling teams to compete in events and competitions whilst newly formed structures are introduced. This is a very positive step forwards and will provide teams in Wales with additional opportunities for development.

During the past 18 months, a lot of work has taken place behind the scenes in Wales to enable the formation of a new Governing Body for Volleyball. Following the AGM in April 2009 we are pleased to announce that this goal has now been realised, and that Volleyball Wales has been approved as the new Welsh National Governing Body for Volleyball.

Opportunities to watch out for include:
· Welsh 4 court tournament in Cardiff in Sept 2009.
· Local League being established initially for South Wales but with plans to develop similar leagues in West and North Wales
· The UK School Games are coming to South Wales in Sept 2009 where two junior Welsh teams have been invited to take part in a celebration match. Plans are underway for the trials in early Sept for selection for the 2010 squad.
· Coaching and refereeing courses are being arranged to build the number of qualified volunteers to help expand the opportunities to play volleyball in South, West and North Wales
· More opportunities to play Volleyball in Schools through the 5x60 scheme.

Malory Eagles Volleyball Club
White Eagles and Malory today announced the merger of their two clubs to form Malory Eagles Volleyball Club. This merger has come about after several years of the teams working closely together (including shared training sessions and social events) and was a logical step given the lack of overlap between the clubs’ activities.

The new club will provide a complete development pathway from beginners through to National League One and includes a group of elite coaches who will help to develop players. It will also offer improved opportunities for development in other aspects of volleyball management.

Malory are one of Britain's best known clubs and provide high level performance opportunities, achieving 56 national league and cup titles in the last 23 years. After a number of years where the teams have trained and played at multiple venues across London, they have now moved to the long term home of White Eagles in Wandsworth.

Jefferson Williams, Head Coach for Malory Eagles, commented… "This merger gives us access to a stream of talented youngsters who we hope to develop further to keep us challenging for honours in the coming years. It also helps to stabilise the teams by tapping in to the structures of White Eagles which have been proven over the years of running multiple teams yet keeping a club ethos."

White Eagles (a Volley 1 club) focuses on developing players, coaches and referees within the London League. It has a successful junior programme having provided 15 players for the national squads in recent years, with four going on to senior representative honours and two becoming part of the GB development squad. The club was founded in 1976 and has been resident in Wandsworth throughout that time fielding up to 7 teams in the local leagues as well as National Cup teams.

David Jenkinson, Malory Eagles Chair said… "For several years we have been contemplating entering teams into the National League to offer further competition for our members and development opportunities for our juniors. It has been quite disappointing to see our juniors being connected with other clubs as we haven't been able to offer national level competition. This merger offers the opportunity to continue the development of our junior and adult players and will lead to a range of new opportunities for everyone connected to the club."

Malory Eagles are planning a number of events over the coming year to consolidate the merger and are currently looking for partners who are keen to help the club with rebranding and promotion.

GB v Spain Photos
Ponds Forge 11/12th July 2009 Food still very good at Ponds Forge.

GB men can certainly play well in spells but keeping it going for whole sets needs more experience at this level. Spain are a very good team and showed it on the Sunday as the scores reflect.
Jurys Inn is best hotel I have stayed at in Sheffield so far, staff good and friendly and hope they keep this standard.
