SWVA Junior Beach
Web Site
As Junior Beach Volleyball continues to develop
across the Southwest, the region has launched a new web site and plans for a
2009 beach league. You can access the site via the main www.swva.org.uk
site or direct at: http://www.swva.org.uk/beach/index.html
Our aim over the winter is to add more information about junior beach volleyball and what’s going on in the SW, to create a SW Junior Beach Tour for 2009 and to cement links between all the clubs that are providing junior beach volleyball coaching by becoming SWVA satellite centres for beach volleyball and to establish SW squads for junior beach volleyball training.
The SWVA will be inviting clubs who are already working with junior beach players to become SW Satelite training
centres (STC), Bath University and The Academy of Beach Sports in Croyde have already come on board as recognised centres and its hoped that there will be more to follow.
The STCs will provide junior coaching on a regular basis during the summer and the STC coaches will be invited to take part in the SW Junior Beach Squad training session with the Squad Coaches to exchange and develop information about beach volleyball coaching.
SW Junior Beach Tour (SWJBT)
Denise Austin in Croyde for the female squads and Vince Joyce in Sandbanks will be leading the SW Junior Beach Volleyball Squads. For 2009 there will be invitational camps held where possible to fit around the playing schedule to assist in the development of the junior beach athletes taking part in the SWJBT. For 2010 players who have performed well on the SWJBT will form the SW Squads and the squad will look towards developing their playing experience through out the UK and Europe.
SW Junior Beach Tour Over the winter the aim is to add more information about junior beach volleyball and what's going on in the SW, to create a SW Junior Beach Tour for 2009 and to cement links between all the clubs that are providing junior beach volleyball coaching by becoming SWVA satellite centres for beach volleyball and to establish SW squads for junior beach volleyball training.
So please keep this page bookmarked to keep up to date on what's happening on the beach volleyball scene in the south west in the near future.
The SWVA will be starting the SWJBT in summer 2009, it will run on similar lines to the VEBT with ranking points, Championship Race winners, Open and Grand Slam events, Triple Crown Winners, SW Championships and SW Finals.
It is hoped the tour will run at the following venues, Barry Island, Bath Uni, Weston-Super-Mare, Croyde, Perranporth, Exmouth, Weymouth and Sandbanks. With some of the larger more established events holding Grand Slams and The Animal Windfest
at Sandbanks, holding the Finals. Once the VEBT dates have been finalised the SWJBT dates will be announced.
