25 Years of Volleyball

Torexe Volleyball Club is celebrating 25 years of volleyball this season and will be marking the occasion with a Buffet and Barn Dance on Friday 23rd April 2010 (Volleybash 25). All current and past members are invited and even if you can not make it, we would like to hear from any past members around the country. Tickets available from Rachel.Swindell@Network100.co.uk

The club was formed in 1984 as the "Clifton Hill VC", taking it's name from the Exeter Clifton Hill SC, the club expanded rapidly and in 1987 changed it's name to the "Exeter VC" and combined with "Torbay VC" to form the "Exeter & Torbay" VC, but it's known to everyone as "Torexe". [The first three letters of Torbay & Exeter]

The club continued to grow and reached it's peak towards the end of the 90's with 13 adult teams, in seven different leagues, which included two National League teams in both the Ladies and Men's Division Two. The club has down sized since then but still runs four weekly training sessions. Over 2,000 people (or 2% of the population of Exeter) have played or trained with Torexe during the 25 years and at one point we were the biggest user of public sports hall time in the city.
