Belfast Beach Volleyball
The weather stayed kind at the weekend and the UUJ Beach Volleyball at Cutters Wharf Belfast was completed without weather interruptions.
Almost 40 players from NIVA clubs took part in the mean/woman mixed pairs event supported by 'Barefoot Wines' and in aid of Marie Cure Cancer care.
Top seeds Wilson Greenlee of the Richhill Raiders and Irena Mihneva of QUB were beaten in the quarter-finals by local pair Alan McKnight and Becca Rankin.
Polish pair Miro Pilch of Lisburn Lynx and Joanna Wieszowska of QUB, the #8 seeds won thru to the semi-final beating fifth seeded Paddy Crooks of Lisburn and Cait Donnelly of North Down.
Second seeds David Park and Alice Harkness of Ballymoney lost their semi-final to clubmates Jonny Workman and Cath Toye.
The final saw Pilch's great strength at the net and Wiesowska's serve/blocking to great effect winning 2-0 to take the title.
